What is something you love about your school? I love the opportunities that I have available, there are so many fun experiences that I can choose to do, like studying in London for my first year.
How did you choose your major? I took a course about the teenage brain in middle school and I was extremely interested in the topic, and when I took AP Psych I really loved the class so I wanted to find a major that would include both things, and neuroscience is the perfect mix of the two..
What is your relationship with your ZF coach like/In what ways have they helped you? Ken was extremely helpful in helping me look at all angles while I was deciding which school I wanted to go to. He helped me consider all the pros and cons, while still giving me the room to decide for myself, which I really appreciated.
What hobbies/extracurriculars/other interests do you have? I really love photography and reading books. I have loved reading since I was little, it is so fun for me to have a little escape into a fantasy world with things like dragons and magic and adventure. I began to like photography because my dad was really into it, and he gave me my first real camera, which I still use today. I love experimenting with different photos and angles, trying to showcase the beauty that is all around us.
Why did you apply to ZF/what drew you to this organization? I was actually chosen by my school as one of three possible students to get the Zenie scholarship, so I might not have applied without the recommendation. But when I was checking out the foundation to actually apply, I really appreciated that the foundation is more than just a scholarship, it is a community that is close-knit and helps each other out.
What impact has ZF had on your academic and professional career thus far? ZF has enabled me to be able to go to my top school while still being financially responsible about my choice. I hope that it will help my professional career by helping me get in touch with other people in my field.
Tell us something you are excited about! I am excited to come back to London in the spring, even though I am there now, I am still looking forward to spending even more time in this beautiful city.
Tell us about a time you made yourself proud. I am proud of myself for voting for the first time! I feel like I am able to make a small change that hopefully will help our future.
Tell us about some of your career aspirations. It’s totally ok if you aren’t sure yet! This can be as specific or as general as you want. I know that I want to do something in the research vein of neuroscience, but I am not sure yet about anything further than that. Do you have a favorite quote/what is a saying that you live by? Slow down- I am constantly reminding myself to take a break or just take things one at a time. It is important to focus on the present and take it one step at a time; there is no need to rush.
