How/why did you choose your major? As a senior in high school, I had to decide whether or not I wanted to pursue college or a dance-related career after I graduated. I knew that if I decided on college, I wanted to study something that I was as passionate about as dance. I had trained with Russian ballet teachers from Moscow, from whom I had started learning Russian and became interested in the relationship between the US and Russia. After spending a summer in Russia studying ballet, I knew I wanted to learn more about International Relations.
Tell us about a time you made yourself proud. I spent last semester in Spain where I took all of my classes in Spanish and lived with a host family who only spoke Spanish! I also volunteered twice a week as an English tutor at an after school program. I'm proud of myself for this immersion and am much more confident in my Spanish skills because of it.
How has your coach helped you? I know I can always count on Ashley to help me with any questions I have! Before I entered college, Ashley helped me make financially-smart choices that gave me the confidence I needed as an undergraduate.
What hobbies/extracurriculars do you have? Ballet will always be a part of my life. I danced seriously for 15 years before going to college and continue to dance and choreograph in Fordham's ballet club. I am grateful to have a creative outlet that also helps manage stress.
Tell us something you are excited about! This summer I am working as both a law firm receptionist and a research assistant for an Encyclopedia on Territorial Rights. I am excited to learn from these opportunities and apply my new skills and knowledge in law school in the future. What is a saying you live by? Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
