Tell us about where you’re from! I am from Somerville, Massachusetts- two cities over from Boston & a mix between urban and suburban. Somerville can best be described as lively, diverse, and beautiful. Somerville is also the proud home of Fluff Marshmallow & Taza Chocolate :)
What is something you love about your school? Cornell's campus is absolutely beautiful during the fall, spring, and summer (makes the brutal winters worth it!). There's always something to do whether it's a short hike or trip to the farmer's market. Additionally, the school I'm in is relatively small, so although Cornell is a big school, it definitely doesn't feel like it.
What impact has ZF had on your academic and professional career thus far? I'm really proud to call myself a Zenie Scholar. In addition to helping me fund my education, this organization has given me so much! The ZF has taught me a lot about financial literacy. I created my first budget as part of this program and have really changed how I think about my spending and saving. I feel confident in my ability to make smart financial decisions in the future, and the ZF is definitely to thank for that.
What is your relationship like with your ZF Coach? My ZF Coach is always there for me when I'm going through a hard time in school, and is constantly reminding me that I'm not alone. He also gives really good advice on how to maximize my college experience and figure out what kinds of careers I might be drawn to in the future.
What is a saying that you live by? A saying that I live by is "there's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be". I truly believe that things happen for a reason and that one door closing allows for another to open. It's really easy to feel disappointed when I don't get something I want, especially if I worked really hard for it, but allowing me to shift my mindset to this has increased my happiness and made me reconsider how I look at "failure”.
