What do you love about the college you’ll be attending? There are a lot of things that I love about the University of Southern Maine, however if I had to pick one it would definitely be the Portland campus. It's literally in Maine’s biggest city. Food scene, internships, jobs, art, music are all in walking distance. Moreover, state of the art labs and a new arts center are opening soon. Also there are 300+ program options and easy to mix major/minors.
How/why did you choose your major? I haven’t chosen my major yet, but I’ve got some great options such as linguistics since I speak 5 languages . Another option I’ve got is business as I understand a little about business. Next semester I’m going to take communication and business classes, so I will decide as soon as possible. What hobbies/extracurriculars/other interests do you have? Tell us about them! Why are they your passions and how did you get involved? I’m a very open guy. I try to learn new stuff every single day. Since I was a kid I always loved playing soccer in my free time. I still do it nowadays. Another thing I really like to do is hang out with my friends/family. I try to spend time with them and see if I learn something from them.
Why did you apply to ZF/what drew you to this organization? The Zenie Foundation offers one of the best scholarship programs in the state of Maine, particularly in terms of how they look out for their students and always strive to help in the best way possible. I am truly grateful to be part of this organization and hope to learn a great deal from you all.
Tell us about a time you made yourself proud. The moment the really felt proud of myself is when I got to the USA after all the obstacles that would’ve prevented me from getting here. There are no words that can describe that feeling.
Tell us about some of your career aspirations. It’s totally ok if you aren’t sure yet! This can be as specific or as general as you want. I have many aspirations, such as finishing university, starting a family, and traveling the world.
Who is a role model for you/someone that you look up to and why? The role model for me is my mom: she sacrificed herself multiple times for me. That’s something I look up to give her the best life possible and make her proud.
Do you have a favorite quote/what is a saying that you live by? “Don’t start things and not finish them." This quote motivates me every time I try to quit on something I really love.
