Why did you pick your college major? How did that help (or not) lead you to where you are now? I wanted to do something STEM-related. I knew I was not too fond of chemistry or physics, but I was always fascinated with Psychology and Biology. So, in the end, Neuroscience felt like a great choice, as I would learn biology, psychology, and the brain.
Did your major change from freshman to senior year? Why/how? NO How have your career aspirations changed over the years? My career aspirations have mostly stayed the same over the years. It is taking longer to get there, but I also know I want to take my time. I am focusing on gaining more experience and exposure to things that can help me further.
What impact/influence did ZF have on your academic career? Your professional career? ZF had a significant impact on my academic career. I had a mentor who was always present and ready to help anytime I needed help. It felt like a family, as there were other students from other colleges, and we could always get together and exchange ideas. Also, it offers many great connections, and that is a very underrated thing since sometimes it is very beneficial to have connections, and those connections can refer you to places that can help you grow and reach your goals.
What drew you to ZF? Why did you choose to apply? Another mentor of mine referred me to the ZF. He thought I had a good profile that fit the ZF's values and cores. I did not think I would get in, but I also knew the potential and benefits I would have access to if I did. So, I applied and hoped for the best and was accepted.
What services and/or resources were most helpful to you? (This can be at ZF, at your school, or somewhere else!) The ZF mentorship program was very beneficial. At school, the academic center and the career office were very helpful. They have a ton of resources to help students succeed in whatever project they are undertaking.
What piece(s) of advice would you give to your college/high school self? I would tell him that everything is going to be alright in the end. I would tell him to do his very best, and not be discouraged by the small setbacks as they won't matter that much in the end. What hobbies/interests do you have outside of work? Tell us about them! Why are they your passions and how did you get involved? I love playing sports, basketball, soccer, and running, in general. I think physical activities help me relax and destress, so that is always my go to anytime I need to change my focus.
