How did you choose your major? I had general interest in the topic and felt as though it was a field I could enjoy studying more before figuring out what to do in life.
What is your relationship like with your ZF Coach? Roy has been a mentor for me and a good friend since my high school freshmen year. The advice and the moments together has helped shape me into who I am and gives me confidence that I am on the right track in life.
Tell us about some of your career aspirations. I'm not fully sure yet, but I have had many changes in interests and right now it's regarding helping others possibly through health care.
What hobbies/extracurriculars do you have? I enjoy photography, exercise, and have been diving back into experimenting with cooking again. I have been shooting photos in film and digital formats for a couple of years now and it has grown into me wanting to perfect my craft. Exercise is something I do as a break away from my work and academic life. It helps establish more confidence with myself physically and mentally while also relieving stress. I used to enjoy cooking a lot, but recently I have been interested in getting back into it because it's really fun to just make something amazing or surprise myself by seeing what awful food I just made.
Why did you apply to ZF/what drew you to this organization? The ZF motto is helping students become effective adults and I wanted to see myself grow into an ideal version of myself with the help of coaches that would guide me by seeing how I progress.
Tell us about a time you made yourself proud. Putting myself out there during my freshman year of college to make friends through classes and some clubs is something I'm proud of. Back then, I was more hesitant to go out and make friends because I was homesick, and I decided it'll be worth a shot to meet new people who may or may not become part of my college experience.
Who is a role model for you? I look up to many people who have helped me get to where I am. Roy is one of those people for all the advice and talks he has given to me. My mother is someone I will always look up to for giving me a wonderful life and for that I want to do my best to give back to her and our family back in Vietnam. My father is someone I want to work hard for as well. He was not there for a majority of my life, but I want to be in a position of my life where we can reconnect once I have settled in a comfortable point of my life.
Do you have a favorite quote? I live by my own saying of "Just going to do what I can in my control" in most situations.
Tell us something you are excited about! I am very excited to see what happens after I graduate with many paths possible in my life. It's also overwhelming, but I'm sure of myself that it'll be an exciting future once I graduate.
