  • Pronouns: She/her
  • Hometown: I am from Millbury, Massachusetts, where I have lived my entire life. It is a relatively small town with a close-knit community, most people know each other, which gives it a warm and familiar atmosphere
  • School: Assumption University, 2029
  • Major: Biochemistry and Nursing
  • Other interests: Reading, fishing, running, Pilates, swimming and spending time at the beach.
  • Coach: Ken Rapp
How/why did you choose your major?
I chose to major in Biochemistry because it provides a strong foundation for medical school, which has always been my ultimate goal. I’ve always had a passion for the medical field and am deeply motivated to become a doctor.

What is your relationship with your ZF coach like/In what ways have they helped you?
My relationship with Ken, my ZF coach, is really supportive and encouraging. He’s always willing to help, consistently available, and truly committed to making things work. Knowing that he believes in me has made a big difference, it’s boosted my confidence and helped me push myself more. I genuinely enjoy working with him and really appreciate the support he provides.

What hobbies/extracurriculars/other interests do you have?
I enjoy reading, there’s something really special about getting completely lost in a good book. Lately, I’ve also been trying out fishing, which I’ve found to be surprisingly peaceful and a great way to slow down. I like to stay active, so I go on runs and do Pilates regularly. I also love swimming and spending time at the beach, especially when I can relax in the sun and enjoy the water.

Why did you apply to ZF/what drew you to this organization?
I first heard about ZF when Ken visited my high school to talk about the foundation and its mission, which immediately caught my attention. At the time, I was taking dual enrollment classes and wasn’t on campus often, so I was surprised, but truly honored, when my guidance counselor nominated me for the program. They encouraged me to apply and see where it might lead. I’m really glad I did, because the values and support that ZF offers are exactly what I’ve been looking for in a community.

What impact has ZF had on your academic and professional career thus far?
The foundation has greatly supported my academic and professional career, by providing valuable networking opportunities, which are very important to me. The support provided by ZF has helped me navigate my way through the college process. The financial assistance has eased significant stress, and the guidance of a knowledgeable and compassionate coach has been invaluable. Going forward, I intend to build upon the support and opportunities provided by ZF to continue progressing in my academic and professional life.

Tell us something you are excited about!
I am excited to fully engage in my studies. I genuinely enjoy learning and find satisfaction in completing homework and assignments. I’m also looking forward to getting to know my professors and embracing the entire journey of my academic career.

Tell us about a time you made yourself proud.
When I started writing research papers, I found the process challenging. However, understanding that research is a crucial part of the pre-med track, I committed myself fully to the work. Despite this challenge, I successfully completed nine research papers and had one accepted into a journal with a highly competitive acceptance rate of just 2%. I also took the initiative to network and reach out to professionals in the field, which greatly contributed to my success. Achieving this at such a young age was something I never expected, and I am very proud of what I accomplished.

Tell us about some of your career aspirations. It’s totally ok if you aren’t sure yet! This can be as specific or as general as you want.
My primary career aspiration is to become a doctor, with a strong interest in working in the emergency room, where I can provide critical care and support to patients in urgent need. Much of my research has been in oncology, which reflects my passion for learning more about cancer-related diseases and contributing to better treatment options for patients. I thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments and am committed to succeeding in whichever path I choose. I am prepared and motivated to pursue a career in emergency medicine.

Who is a role model for you/someone that you look up to and why?
One of my biggest role models is my mom. She’s incredibly hard-working and compassionate, and I’ve always admired the way she carries herself. We’re very similar, not only do we look alike, but I’ve also inherited many of my values and strengths from her. As a certified nursing assistant (CNA), she inspired my interest in the medical field and showed me what it means to care for others. The values she instilled in me, like communication, respect, and empathy, have greatly shaped who I am today.
