What is something you love about your school? I love that Simmons is a small school, but is located in the center of Boston. It's the best of both worlds!
How/why did you choose your major? I chose nursing as my major because I want to do something impactful in my life. Nursing combines my two passions of health sciences and helping people. The idea of being able to have an impact on someone's life, even if it is small, means so much to me. I aspire to make healthcare more accessible and equitable for all people. My passion for nursing is a key part of my life, and I know it will only grow stronger during my years at Simmons.
What hobbies/extracurriculars/other interests do you have? Tell us about them! Why are they your passions and how did you get involved? I dance! I started when I was two and have continued throughout high school and into college. I love taking classes, teaching younger students and choreographing. I was a member of a non-profit dance company based in Portland, Maine called Portland Youth Dance throughout my middle school and high school years. Along with this, I also took classes at Casco Bay Movers. This is where I started to explore the art of dance and all it has to offer. I now take drop in classes in Boston, and am a member of the Simmons University Dance Company! Tell us something you are excited about! I start my clinicals this year! Whoop whoop! I’m so excited to start these rotations, and receive hands-on training with other nurses. I’m also in the works of planning my study abroad trip to Ireland junior year.
Tell us about some of your career aspirations. It’s totally ok if you aren’t sure yet! This can be as specific or as general as you want. My goal after I get my nursing degree is to be either a labor and delivery nurse, NICU nurse or midwife. Pregnancy and birth are two things that fascinate me endlessly. I love advocating for and learning about healthy and safe births and holistic ways to do so. Once I receive all my needed qualifications, another one of my goals is to take my skills and apply them in a mission trip or the peace corps :) Do you have a favorite quote/what is a saying that you live by? "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressors." -Desmond Tutu
