Other interests: Crocheting, sewing, cooking, embroidering, and even hunting and fishing.
What is something you love about your school? I love Georgia College & State University for several reasons. To start, it is absolutely beautiful. I remember thinking that it was the perfect movie-like college when I went to tour. I love the population size, because it is enough to meet someone new every day but also be close to all my friends and be able to see people I know on the way to class.
How/why did you choose your major? I chose MIS because I knew it was a good major to teach me hard skills in CS and business while I am still able to adapt and learn! I am not sure if it is what I will stick with, but I think it is a great platform to jump off of no matter what.
What is your relationship with your ZF coach like/in what ways have they helped you? I love my coaches! They are always so sweet and supportive, and I couldn't have asked for a better pair to help me through the ZF process and beginning my freshman year. My conversations with them are always fun and easy, and they have made it so clear that their main goal is to help me succeed.
What hobbies/extracurriculars/other interests do you have? Tell us about them! Why are they your passions and how did you get involved? I have so many hobbies, I love to crochet, sew, cook, embroider, and even hunt and fish! I have two markets a year where I am able to sell my crochet crafts, and I love getting to show people my work. I started crafting about six months before the lockdown, and I have stuck with it since!
What impact has ZF had on your academic and professional career thus far? What impact do you hope it will have in the future? The Zenie Foundation has helped me with accountability, time management, and leadership. They have helped me to get the education that I need for my future career and have helped me to build the character that is necessary to thrive in the working world. I hope to continue to develop these skills so that I can continue to grow.
Tell us something you are excited about! I am incredibly excited to be going on the Campus Outreach Summer Leadership Project (SLP)! It is a missions/leadership retreat in Daytona, Florida. For seven weeks I will be with fellow Christians learning how to study my bible, deepen my walk with God, share my faith, and make meaningful connections. I am so blessed and grateful to have this opportunity!
Tell us about a time you made yourself proud. I truly believe God has worked through me this semester. I have been able to show His love to so many people, forming meaningful connections and helping people to be their best selves. I love being able to grow alongside my friends, being able to give them a hand when they need it and having someone to support me when I am going through a stressful situation.
Tell us about some of your career aspirations. It’s totally ok if you aren’t sure yet! This can be as specific or as general as you want. I am not super sure about what I want in a career, but I know that I want to be able to work with people. I have always been a people person, as cheesy as that sounds, so I know that I want to be able to help people and I have to be in a position to build a community and help people.
Who is a role model for you/someone that you look up to and why? My parents have been such a blessing in my life and a huge inspiration. My dad is the commander of Martin Army Community Hospital and has such a huge heart. He has shown me what it means to truly care about people and demonstrates firsthand the servant leadership style. My mom is stay-at-home, and she has always been there for my younger sisters and I through thick and thin. She is my biggest supporter and the woman I look up to the most.
Do you have a favorite quote/what is a saying that you live by? “Therefore encourage each other and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” -Thessalonians 5:11
