How/why did you choose your major? Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field because my grandmother is a pharmacist and I grew up around medicine in our family's pharmacy. However, the role of a pharmacist did not really match my ideal future. I would describe myself as a "people person", and my caring and outgoing personality seemed to align more with the role of a nurse, who provides both medical and emotional care to patients. Nursing is essentially the best of both worlds for someone like me who wants to interact with people, but also has interest in science and medicine. I envision my ideal career to be challenging, fast paced, diverse, and impactful, and nursing is all of that and more! Earning my Bachelor's degree in nursing will put me on the path towards pursuing my dream career as a registered nurse.
Why did you apply to ZF? What drew you to this organization? I was recommended for the Zenie Foundation by my high school principal, who knew that I upheld many of ZF’s values! I appreciate the importance of community, relationships, and support within the foundation because I believe that establishing meaningful connections helps me work towards becoming the best version of myself.
Tell us about some of your career aspirations. I’m not entirely sure of the field that I want to be in, but am leaning towards working in a labor and delivery unit or a NICU/PICU. My goal is to help new/existing families with newborns in any way I can. I may eventually further my education and become a Nurse Practitioner, but I'm not sure yet!
What is a saying you live by? See the good, be the good.
