What is something you love about your school? Holy Cross has such a vibrant and thriving community! Its Jesuit roots offer opportunities for retreats, service trips, reflection, and community-based learning throughout my time here. It's also a truly beautiful place to be here on "The Hill" in Worcester, Massachusetts; I pass by the ivy that changes with the seasons, the spires of Fenwick Hall, and the columns of the Dinand Library every day and I really experience a sense of awe. Finally, I am so excited to engage with a rich liberal arts curriculum and focus on being a well-rounded human being.
How/why did you choose your major? Theater has always been very near and dear to my heart. Theater, to me, is a celebration of humanity and one of the deepest ways you can experience empathy. I'm always so excited when I get to go out on a stage. After studying racism and social biases for the past year, I really developed a passion for social justice and began engaging with sociology this semester. I've really appreciated learning more about the society we live in and our intersectional identities. Finally, I've decided to take on a gender, sexuality, and women's studies concentration to focus on elevating marginalized voices and to develop my passion for discussing LGBTQ+ issues.
What is your relationship with your ZF coach like? I really love my ZF coaches, John and Sharon Bracken. The college process had been incredibly difficult, and they pushed me on to reach for the heights. They have been the kindest and really patient with me through everything, especially when working out the financial aid process. We've shared truly wonderful conversations, and they continue to be really helpful with the transition into college life and the next four years beyond. The Zenie Foundation as a whole has served as a valuable resource for support, with their mentor program and assistance with the financial aid process. I'm so grateful for them, I don't know where I'd be without them!
What hobbies/extracurriculars/other interests do you have? I love to sing! I'm involved in three choirs at Holy Cross and I'm often the cantor at Masses on campus. I was in a boy choir for almost ten years, where I really fell in love with singing. I'm currently preparing for the Holy Cross spring musical, Oklahoma!, as well. I'm also an avid reader and a huge fan of classic films! I love engaging with different art forms and I continue to find ways of being fascinated and inspired by creativity.
Tell us about some of your career aspirations. My dream is to be an actor on the Broadway stage! I'm passionate about using my talents for acting and singing to tell stories, lift others up, and work for change.
